Decision Support System supporting PEDs implementation

A new research paper presents a Decision Support System (DSS) designed to support the implementation of Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) in urban areas.

What the DSS does

Developed within the framework of the Making PEDs DUT project, the system uses multi-attribute analysis with the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to help stakeholders:

  • Define priorities by identifying and emphasizing the most crucial aspects of PED development

  • Compare scenarios through transparent and systematic evaluation of alternative futures

  • Make decisions by ensuring informed and consistent choices aligned with project goals.

Methodology

The DSS is based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) from the Making PEDs input/output framework. A survey conducted with Urban Living Labs (ULLs) and technical partners identified the most relevant KPIs. These criteria are then used to evaluate and compare PED implementation scenarios, enabling robust and transparent decision-making.
